What have been your previous experiences with studying Shakespeare? Have you developed a positive, negative, or apathetic view of the Bard? What have you learned about Shakespeare already? What more do you want to know?

I read some Shakespear's novels, which are the Romeo and Juliet and Julius Caesar last year.
ReplyDeleteI was quite hard to understand Shakespear's style.
I have positive, negative, and apathetic view of the Bard. I think that it depends on the books.
For example, the Romeo and Juliet is beautiful and romantic style, but Julius Caesar is hard to read.
I already know Shakespear is famous the novelist in the world, and his books are hard.:)
In addition, through the new sharkespear's book, the Hamlet, i want to know more about his style, because when i read his book, i was busy to folloew the book. However, at this thime i want to know his novel background that is veiled.
I studied Shakespeare freshmen sophomore year reading The Taming of The Shrew and Macbeth. i enjoyed reading those plays. I have learned that Shakespeare uses tons of irony and symbols. From the plays that i read i know that his plays portray very good messages. For example, Macbeth's theme revolved around how greed and power can destroy a person. i feel that i can interpret Shakespeare's writing fairly well, but that sometimes i don't see beyond enough to understand the theme fully enough on my on and without a teacher. I want to be able to fully understand the writing more on my own.
ReplyDeleteMy previous expriences with Shakespeare's work was Romeo and Juliet, Taming of the Shrew, Othello, and Macbeth. I have gained a mostly positive opinion of Shakespeare and his work. I have learned that Shakespere has no restriction of how far he will go in his writing. I loved his tragedy, and his comedy. I have learned that Shakespere loves to kill his characters off, and loves to make people entertained. I want to know more about his history, and why the way he writes the way he does.

ReplyDeletemy past encounter with shakespare had been julius Ceasar and Romeo and Juliet. Both plays were easy to follow because i had background infomation on it. i'll say i have a positive view of his novels. the only problem where there might had been a slight misunderstanding was the shakesparean language. there are difficult to grasp, but once to know more of it, it becomes a bit easier. i know that he write a lot of tragedy and lots of sonnets and he write his sonnets in a pattern. i want to learn how i can fully understand Shakespear's writing.
ReplyDeleteMy previous experiences with studing shakespere have been very brief. the only type of shakespehere i studied was freshmen year, reading the novel Romeo and Juiliet. I have developed a negative taste for shakesperes writing. Although, Romeo and Juliet was a good love story, it failed to catch my attention. Because Shakespheres words were so vague and hard to understand, I never really got anything out of reading his novels. I have learned that Shakesphere is one of the greatest play writters in history but, because people know little about his past i do not know much more than that. I want to know what motivated shakespher to write these kinda of plays and how he went about writting so many.
ReplyDeleteMy previous experience with Shakesphere has been alright. I never really had a problem with it. I remember last year with Ms. Koning we read a Shakesphere book and she made it very interesting, thats why i never encountered any problems. I havented shut down Shakesphere completly because I know that if we as a class talk about it and really try to get "into" the book it be very interesting. The only thing that I know about Shakespehre is that it is hard to comprehend. what I want to learn is how to fully read the language and to be able to fully understand it because when we go to college, our professors are not going to feed Shakesphere to us we have to be able to understand it.
ReplyDeleteI have only read one book Shakesphere. The only book that I have read was Romeo and Juliet. I read this book my freshmen year. The type of style he writes is very difficult to understand. However, it is useful to have a dictionary with you to understand his words. What I have learned about him is that he is very creative with his writting and his storys are very intresting. What I would like to know more about Shakesohere is that how he got his many ideas to write his storys.
ReplyDeleteA few reminders:
ReplyDelete1. i=I
2. freshmen=plural noun; freshman=adjective or singular noun
3. There are spaces between sentences!
4. shakespeare???? He's more important than that! Go ahead an give him the respect he deserves (capitalize his name).
If it helps, type your blog entry in MS Word before copying and pasting into the blog. Remember, I'm grading on completion, but sloppy grammar, spelling, and punctuation makes YOU look bad!
Ms. Hinshaw sorry about the tardiness but my computer is messed up so i have to use jeremy ryans computer. My experiences with shakespear have been reading a wide selection of his plays at st. pats. Previously my teachers have been old white men, so i havent been enthused about reading them, but im sure hamlet will be an exciting play full of action, murder and suspense. With a new outlook on shakespear, i am exctied about our stufy of hamlet. I look forward to going over this in class.

I learned some of the Shakesphere's book and it has been pretty interesting. The languages that Shakespere used in his books are fascinating since it is fairly different from what we use today.
ReplyDelete(Romeo and Juliet is one of my favorite Shakespeare's book because of his romantic writing and beautiful story)

I haven’t had enough experience reading Shakespeare to form any relevant opinions about his writings. I enjoyed reading Romeo and Juliet freshman year, but did not enjoy reading Julius Caesar my sophomore year. I think I enjoyed Romeo and Juliet more because of the time my class spent on analyzing and understanding it. The teacher that taught Julius Caesar was rushed and just wanted to get the unit on Shakespeare over and done with. I enjoyed both stories and think the style of Shakespeare is beautiful. I think I would have enjoyed reading Shakespeare my sophomore year if my teacher spent more time analyzing it.
ReplyDeleteI have learned that Shakespeare wrote mainly three genres (comedy, tragedy, and historical), used a wide variety of dialogue to please all of his viewers (dirty jokes, beautiful, insightful poetry), and had a crazy-cool moustache. I would like to read more of Shakespeare’s works to better understand him. I would also like to know more about his personal life and if there are any other works of his besides plays.
